Talented real estate agents have been put through their paces as they prepare for the REIV Novice Auctioneer Competition in August, following a rigorous training initiative at Hodges Real Estate.

The internal training programme is a first for Hodges, comprising the up skilling of current real estate agents in the objective of becoming outstanding Auctioneers.

To develop the initiative, Hodges Franchise Director Campbell Cooney teamed up with leading auction trainer Phil de Fefegly to create the comprehensive training programme, which took place internally with twelve ‘to be’ auctioneers, over the last 4 months.

Campbell Cooney says interest in the programme demonstrates how important it is to continually learn and grow as a real estate professional. “We all perform better when supported to succeed and have access to opportunities that facilitate our professional growth. It can be incredibly confronting and brave to be critiqued by your peers to facilitate your professional growth.”

After the training, the four strongest participants were then selected to represent Hodges at the REIV Novice Auctioneer Competition in August, resulting in Simone Chin (Hodges Brighton), Sam Hartrick (Hodges Mentone), Paul Thorne (Hodges Beaumaris) and Angus Graham (Hodges Sandringham) being nominated for the big event.

Campbell says confidence is a key element to any successful auctioneer and all participants have developed skills in spades over the course of the training. “A great auctioneer is confident and has personality. We’re fortunate to have very talented agents committed to hard work and progressing their careers as their experience grows.

I am continually impressed by the level of self-awareness our team continues to demonstrate and the Auctioneer programme is something we are looking forward to growing in 2016.”

The top four auctioneers will represent Hodges at the up and coming REIV Novice Auctioneer of the Year competition on 18 August.

Heats of the REIV Novice Auctioneer Competition kick off on 18 August at The Manningham Club in Bulleen. Semi Finals will be held on 29 September with the Grand Final on Tuesday 13 October.
