The Australian Financial Review recently revealed that Australian investors have about a third of their wealth invested in property.

At 30.8 per cent of the average Australian investment portfolio, Aussie investors are securing their wealth in the property market more so than any other investor in the Asia Pacific. Here, investors are defined as those “who have more than $US1 million in assets outside the family home.”

The figures show that Australian investors value investment in property far more than the global average, which sits at 18.2 per cent of the average investor’s portfolio.

Despite the apparent difference between these confidence levels, Australians are identifying that property prices are in a state of growth within Australian shores. “The ABS said on Tuesday that the weighted average of the eight Australian capital city property prices soared 9.8 per cent in the three months to June, compared to a year earlier,” Sally Patten writes.
