Melbourne looks set to experience another record-breaking spring season, as last Saturday became the 13th Super Saturday of the year. The Age reported that Melbourne has never witnessed such a strong pre-Grand Final Saturday.

The previous record was 11 Super Saturdays in 2013, but less than a month into September, this record has been smashed, with more Super Saturdays in 2014 a very real possibility.

There were 1,100 auctions scheduled over the past weekend, resulting in a clearance rate of nearly 78%.

Hodges Bentleigh Director, Frank Ruffo, reported the weekend’s standout result. The four-bedroom house at 13 Faye Street in Moorabbin sold at auction for $1.19 million, despite the vendor’s reserve of $880,000.

Hodges Director, Campbell Cooney, perfectly summarised the current trend saying, “It wasn’t just a super Saturday, I’ve had the best September ever.”
