Dalways

Following The Age’s recent article on the ongoing popularity of Lorne, hordes of people are set to descend on the beachside town this weekend as it prepares for the annual Pier to Pub open-water race happening on Saturday 10 January.

The iconic event sees crowds of swimmers brave the surf every year as they race each other to the finish line at the Lorne Pub. The race regularly attracts thousands of competitors and is one of the world’s largest open-water swims. In addition to the competitors, many curious visitors use the event as an excuse to head to Lorne to watch the event unfold and take a weekend away.

There is an added draw card for visitors heading to Lorne this weekend though, particularly those from Melbourne on the look out for a holiday property along the Great Ocean Road. Saturday will see open for inspections of two highly sought after properties in the Lorne area, Dalways and Riverbank.

Dalways (circa 1873) is set on a 2500 square meter site and lies in a sheltered forest valley and is only a couple of minutes drive from Lorne’s busy beachfront promenade. The well cared for Victorian was relocated from its seafront position some years ago. Riverbank is a classically simple double-storey home constructed in recycled silver hardwood and occupies an 1100 square meter site surrounded by the Great Otway National Park. Hodges Brighton agent Simone Chin is handling the sales.

These properties provide a rare opening into the tightly held Lorne property market and the sales will undoubtedly be spoken about for weeks to come.
