Weekend assignments to get you through the second lockdown

After weeks of the first lockdown, we’re certainly more prepared going into lockdown 2.0. However, being cooped up away from family and friends whilst our interstate counterparts enjoy luxuries like restaurants and entertainment was never going to be easy. It’s normal to feel unmotivated, which is why we’ve created a list of weekend tasks to get you through the next few weekends spent at home…
Fresh air and increased blood flow are exactly what the Doctor ordered during these particularly uncertain times, which is why our first project involves both these things. It’s time to get planting. Consider making a veggie patch or herb garden. Balcony planters, indoor plants and courtyard pot pants also need winter love. You could even attempt flower arranging which is known to be quite meditative and therapeutic.
With spending so much time at home, it’s important you are maximising your space and presenting your home in a way that is not only functional but show’s off your home’s full potential. You can transform the look and feel of a room drastically just by rearranging the furniture to change the focal point, make the room appear more inviting or improve traffic flow. You can move items out of a room and swap them over for pieces in other areas of your home. You can repurpose the furniture you already have and stage your home in a way that is fresh and elegant. Not only will this be invigorating, but it will mean you’ve already done the hard work staging your home, ready for when the time comes to sell.
Start by sorting through your fridge and cupboards whilst getting rid of everything that has passed its use-by-date. Order your pantry items in a way that is functional and efficient, with what you use on a day-to-day basis easily accessible and within reach. You could transfer packaged ingredients into mason jars, which is not only visually appealing but guarantees the freshness of your produce. Branded packaging can look busy and disordered. Utilise labelled colour coded containers for all your pantry ingredients. It will save you time in the long run, eliminate the risk of spillages and leaks, and will bring some order into your currently chaotic life. Then attempt a difficult recipe that you’ve been meaning to try that needs to be nurtured over multiple hours. If you’re missing the dining experience at your favourite restaurant, attempt to recreate this in the comfort of your home.
Get creative and focus on an area of your home that could use some TLC or that needs to be updated. For some ideas, you could hang wall art, paint, apply feature wallpaper, update furniture, put up shelves, create a coffee station, spray paint a bed frame or spruce up your working from home station. Spend time on a space you don’t normally give attention to and turn it into an area you love. This will increase your enjoyment at home, as well as increase the value of your home when it comes time to sell.
