Our business operation in response to COVID-19

As we enter a time of concern, ambiguity and uncertainty around the Coronavirus, we want to take this opportunity to inform you that we are actively doing everything we can to protect the wellbeing and safety of our customers and our staff during the outbreak of this pandemic.

The situation is so dynamic that each day brings a new development, and while our business is in full operation, we are being proactive, pre-emptive and thorough in our approach. The safety of our community, our customers, and their families is always paramount.


Is Hodges currently open and operating?

Yes, following on from the update and announcement from our Prime Minister, real estate businesses have been identified as essential services.

Our business is in full operation, but we need to utilise alternative methods. We are being proactive, pre-emptive and thorough in our approach whilst operating within the current guidelines and adhering to all Government recommendations.

We are adapting new strategies and new technologies whilst embarking on innovative and alternative ways to continue to serve our customers.

Please reach out and call us to discuss alternative virtual meeting arrangements and options so that we can continue to provide an exceptional level of customer service during this difficult time.


Are Hodges still administering property inspections?

Following the latest guidelines from the Prime Minister, traditional property inspections and open homes are no longer in operation.

Instead, we are transitioning to private and virtual inspections. Please contact your local office regarding a private viewing as these must strictly be arranged by appointment.

Please contact us directly by phone or email if you have any concerns around this issue. We will be more than happy to assist through finding alternative ways to ensure you get the best customer experience with Hodges.

Please also respect that there may be longer than normal waiting times during this period, as we manage the capacity of interested parties with one-on-one appointments.

If you’re experiencing any flu like symptoms, please DO NOT contact us to arrange a private inspection. We will endeavour to provide you with a virtual tour so that you can remain in isolation. Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate this difficult situation.


Are property auctions going ahead?

Australia’s Federal Government has declared that traditional property auctions can no longer go ahead.

Hodges are transitioning many campaigns to private sale as an alternative to auctions, but please call your local Hodges Agent to discuss the best method of sale for your campaign. If the auction is to proceed, Hodges will look to utilise unconventional methods, such as over the phone, or through digital channels.

Can I still visit a Hodges office during this time?

Due to the contagious nature of COVID-19, the importance of social distancing, and the instructions from our Prime Minister, Hodges will not be accepting walk-ins at our office locations. This will not affect your level of customer service, and we welcome you to call, email or text your local Hodges Agent to discuss your situation. We will work with you to arrange alternative ways of meeting your requests whilst still ensuring a highly personable service.


How can I get contracts signed?

The signing of documents can still occur in person providing the hygiene protocols and guidelines are followed.

As an alternative we can also administer electronic signatures which are recognised by law in Australia (Electronic Transactions Act 1999 Cth).


Will Hodges still be conducting routine property inspections at rental properties?

Real Estate Professionals are required to comply with their contractual and Common Law agency obligations. This generally means we are required to conduct regular routine inspections to monitor the condition of the property and its inclusions during the term of a tenancy.

Due to the risk of conducting inspections during the outbreak of this pandemic this will unfortunately no longer be possible.

We will continue to keep owners well informed of the situation, including details as to what alternative measures will be put in place in lieu of a physical inspection.
