Hodges Mo Bros changing the face of men’s health

It’s that time of year again when Australian men and women band together to support one another for the month long event of Movember.

Hodges Sandringham have a Mo Bros team getting behind this great cause with Angus Graham, Cain Malthouse and Stephen Wigley growing moustaches for the month of November. We look forward to watching their progress over the coming month.

The Movember Foundation aims to raise awareness and break the silence on some of the biggest health issues faced by men including, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health issues and suicide prevention. The Movember Foundation hopes that by 2030 the number of men dying prematurely will be reduced by 25 per cent.

Sam and sister Bree complete Australia’s biggest vertical race for a cause

In other community news, we wanted to congratulate Samantha Wolany from the Sandringham office and her sister Bree on completing the Eureka Stair Climb on 13 November to raise funds and awareness of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). The two sisters completed this challenge as part of Run4aReason – the group they founded in support of their father who was diagnosed with this rare neurological condition.

As PSP symptoms mimic Parkinson’s disease, it is often misdiagnosed and  to date there is no known treatment or cure for PSP, with currently around 1300 Australians diagnosed with the disease.

Sam and Bree would love your support to help them fundraise, with the ultimate goal being to increase awareness of PSP among the community and the medical profession in order to allow its correct diagnosis and fund research to eventually find a cure.

Last year they raised over $35,000 which goes towards one year of research. Every bit counts and you can do your part by donating to Run4aReason.

You can also follow Sam and Bree’s progress by joining their Run4aReason Facebook group.

We are incredibly proud of our Hodges staff taking part in these worthwhile fundraising initiatives.
