Property Observer recently published a guest observation by Michael Townsend, Director of Hodges Read Estate St Kilda, on St Kilda: Melbourne’s playground by the beach.

Michael writes, “With an abundance of gourmet eateries and a popular nightlife scene, St Kilda is often described as Melbourne’s playground by the beach.

“Located just six kilometres from the CBD, the area attracts an eclectic mix of residents – from young families to bohemian artists and musicians, as well as tourists and young professionals. St Kilda is bordered by six kilometres of coastline and its beach is possibly Melbourne’s most famous.”

The suburb boasts endless trendy cafes and bars as well as award-winning restaurants and independent boutiques. Some of the suburbs most popular strips include Acland Street; renowned for its European inspired cake stores, Carlisle St, Fitzroy Street and the Esplanade.

St Kilda is home to a mixture of architecture styles including art deco apartment blocks, Victorian terraces, Spanish mission style homes and modern developments.
