Hodges’ Simone Chin, spoke to Domain over the weekend on the beginnings of the Spring market.

She told Chris Tolhurst that bayside area listings were on the rise, because “downsizers and upgraders looked to change properties.”

‘‘It looks like we will be about 20 per cent busier than we were last year,’’ she said.

‘‘That has a lot to do with some great results that have been reported and achieved in the past four to six weeks and, probably, it’s also because of a lack of investors. The investors are dropping out a little bit because they can’t compete against home buyers.’’

Russ Enticott from Hodges Brighton was also featured in The Herald Sun on these prime listings and successful sales over the weekend:

“Among the successes was the four-bedroom period home at 2 Davies St, Brighton East, which sold under the hammer for $1.59 million. Russ Enticott said the family that bought the house on a 630sq m block was among four bidders at the auction. His office also scored a $1.61 million sale at 7 Murrumbeena Cres, Murrumbeena. An opening bid of $1.3 million was made for the four- bedroom house that the owners bought four years ago for $980,000.”

Though Spring hasn’t officially started on the calendar, the weekend’s results say the season has definitely begun in the property market.
