Hodges Brighton is set to auction two brand new beach boxes sitting side by side on Brighton’s Dendy St beach. The iconic boxes will be auctioned from 1pm this Saturday.

Speaking to Samantha Landy from the Herald Sun, auctioneer Sam Paynter said they were a solid ‘lifestyle investment. “Hodges was one of the first to auction one in the ‘70s for $25,000, and their prices have continually gone up since,” he said.

In an article on the well-known beach boxes, Christina Zhou from The Age’s Domain section writes, “Agents say their value very rarely – if ever – go backwards, with some boxes now fetching prices of a suburban family home.”

Though in high demand, only local residents or ratepayers are allowed to purchase the boxes.
