Wednesday 29 October saw a well-known St Kilda East apartment block go to auction. This wasn’t any ordinary auction though, the vendor, philanthropist Andrew Robinson, and real estate agent Hodges St Kilda both donated a percentage of the sale and commission to the St Kilda based charity Ardoch Youth Foundation.

The block, which houses four apartments and a three-storey town house sold for $2,360,000, netting the charity an impressive $11,800 donation from Hodges St Kilda. The money will be used to develop the music program that Andrew Robison runs at Ardoch Youth Foundation for disadvantaged young people. The properties were purchased by a developer and saw two bidders battling for the deeds.

Michael Townsend, Director and auctioneer at Hodges St Kilda commented, ‘We are thrilled to have been in a position to work with the vendor to donate $11,800 of our commission from the successful sale of 105 Westbury Street. The Ardoch Youth Foundation is such a meaningful charity with very local roots and plays a significant role in changing the lives of disadvantaged young people, something we at Hodges feel passionately about. At Hodges, we always go the extra mile for our clients and this paid off today for this worthwhile charity.”

Ardoch Youth Foundation supports schools in the Port Phillip area, including St Kilda Primary School, Elwood College and Elwood Primary School. They also support young children at South Melbourne Mission Kindergarten.
